Another necessary element of travelling is accomodation. After you’ve spent a long time getting to where you want to be, the last thing you want to have to deal with is trouble with accomodation. Hopefully, after mastering this lesson, accomodation troubles will be the least of your worries. For those of you that are keen on learning Spanish, I highly recommend rocket spanish.

To find a place to stay, you’ll need to ask:

¿Dónde hay…? / Wheres a ….?

The sentence structure remains the same as in English, so you would replace ….. with the place you are enquiring about. For example:

¿Dónde hay una pensíon con desayuno/ un albergue juvenil / un hotel : Where’s the bed and breakfast / youth hostel / hotel.

Sometimes you may wish to know a little more about a place before you decide to stay there. One way of doing this is to ask locals to recommend you somewhere.

¿Puede recomendar algún sitio….? / Can you recommend somewhere?

Of course, not everyone wants the same accomodation. If you were tired and just wanted somewhere to crash that night, you could ask:

¿Puede recomendar algún sitio cercano? / Can you recommend somewhere nearby?

On the other hand, if you were planning a trip away with your spouse, you may want to ask:

¿Puede recomendar algún sitio romántico? / Can you recommend somewhere romantic?

Or..

¿Puede recomendar algún sitio de lujo? / Can you recommend somewhere luxurious? rocket spanish showed me this sentence perfectly.

And of course, you are going to need to know where you are staying. If only to tell the taxi driver where to go. You would do this by asking:

¿Cuál es la dirección? / What’s the address?
