Benidorm is a fabulous place for a family holiday, with attractions, facilities and sights to cater for all ages, from children’s entertainment to evening cabaret shows From its origins as a small fishing village, the resort and hotel complex first sprang up in the 1960s during the time of the explosion of the package holiday and has remained popular ever since.
Four of the largest theme parks are located in and around Benidorm and are the perfect distraction for hard-to-entertain teenagers. Terra Mitica is Spain’s largest theme park and is split into five themed areas. So large is this theme park that it is a good idea to buy a two day pass in order to see and experience everything. For those theme parks and water parks which aren’t so central there are bus routes running through the main areas of benidorm hotels.
Whether or not it is your cup of tea, there is no denying that Benidorm boasts a nightlife of international reputation and some argue the most varied and vibrant nightlife in Spain. Not only does Benidorm offer some of the biggest club nights hosted by visiting international DJs during the popular summer months, but also some of the best cabarets and live entertainment shows, especially during the winter months when Benidorm is populated by an older generation of visitors, eager to escape the Northern European winter blues.
Benidorm has some of the finest beaches on the Costa Blanca. The Levante and Poniente (sunrise and sunset) beaches are the two long golden beaches which characterise the seafront of the resort. By day the beaches are the top destination of holiday makers who wander down from their hotel in benidorm, having been regularly voted among the cleanest and most popular beaches in Europe. From joggers soaking up the first few rays of the morning to evening cocktails looking across the Poniente beach, the beaches of Benidorm are the main focus of the town and biggest attraction to visitors. The two beaches have been awarded the European blue flag award. Levante beach is the livelier of the two, bordered by a large number of bars and restaurants while Poniente is much more tranquil, attracting families and older people looking for more peace and quiet and the location of many benidorm apartments
