Sacramento, California for Romance

August 9th, 2007 · No Comments

Sacramento, California may not be the first destination that you think of when looking for a romantic vacation or honeymoon but there is a reason why it has been voted in the top 5 livable cities in the world. Sacramento’s charms aren’t just for locals, visitors can easily enjoy an experience in California’s capital.

This great city offers a little something for everyone in addition to some very romantic destinations. The moderate climate makes it a good year round destination that isn’t as flashy as some other Californian locations. The charm of the old town - Old Sacramento or Old Sac as its affectionately known by the locals - offers a chance to soak up the history and mood of the past.

If museums interest you then you’ll find over 20 museums in Sacramento to feed your desires for fine art and science. The top of your list should be the Crocker Art Museum. This old museum - the oldest west of the Mississippi - won’t disappoint with its range of drawings, ceramics and art spanning the 10th century to contemporary periods from Europe, Asia and North America.

If you love good food - and what romantic escape doesn’t feature excellent dining? - then you’re in for a treat. There are many local restaurants that pride themselves on the top quality cuisine and romantic decor. Two popular choices for romance are Slocum House (sit inside in the romantic hues of evening or be serenaded by a harpist outdoors over lunch) and Chantarelle in the old town (cozy space with excellent service).
