Can’t Miss Stops on Your London Vacation

A vacation to London can be a trip of a lifetime. And there is so much to see and do that you could easily spend a week and not see it all. But if your time is limited, there are a few things in London that are not to be missed.

Best Museums in London

As part of your London vacation, you should plan on spending some time at one of the world renowned museums. The British Museum is the oldest museum in the world, and contains treasures from all around the world. The British Museum is where you can see the Rosetta Stone, Mildenhall Treasure, Elgin Marbles, and Ramses II. You should also go to the National Gallery and Portrait Gallery, which are home to England’s most important art collections. Some of the finest and most famous paintings in the world are in these two galleries. If you are not interested in art, a stop at the Natural History Museum is a good choice for your London vacation. Its enormous collection of natural science can be a trip in itself.

A Taste of British History

No vacation to London would be complete without a visit to some of the historic sites in the city. Go first to the Tower of London, home to the Crown Jewels. Next, visit Westminster Abbey and Parliament Square. The royal abbey is where all of Britain’s kings and queens have been crowned since 1066. And, of course, no vacation to London would be complete without a trip to Buckingham Palace. Home to the Queen of England, Buckingham Palace’s famous guards are an attraction in themselves. The changing of the guard happens daily, and is not to be missed.

Other London Vacation Spots

While you are on your London vacation, there are other things to see and do. One is a trip to St. Paul’s Cathedral. The cathedral, which is home to Sir Christopher Wren’s Baroque masterpiece, is a fixture on the London skyline and has hosted many ceremonial events. For a different view of the city, don’t miss a trip to London Eye, the largest Ferris Wheel ever built. Billed as an observation wheel, the London Eye offers the best views of the city around. Of course, during your trip to London, you should also take a walk along the Thames, enjoy afternoon tea, and spend an evening at the theatre. And if you’re traveling with children, a trip to the London Zoo is a great way to spend the afternoon.
